Rising actress and filmmaker, Kikelomo Oguntade in this interview with TheNewsGuru talks about her passion for acting, challenges, amongst other issues.
Childhood ambitions
I have always wanted to be an actress. When I was little I always played with my dolls, having a conversation with it like its human. I also pretend as If I am getting a reaction from her. So I would say I have been acting all my life.
Memorable childhood experience
It has to be the first time I cooked in the kitchen for my mum. She was so impressed by my culinary skills. My first day in secondary school was also a big deal for me, because mum gave me an embroidered uniform with shimmers. It made me stand out from everyone else in school.
Educational background
For my Primary School education I attended Kawefunmi Nursery and Primary School. I attended Regal College Secondary. For my University education, I attended Babcock University and attended
I wouldn’t say I decided to be an actress, I would say it’s innate. It is who I am. It has always been my passion.
First movie acted in
Initially my parents didn’t support my acting career. I recall that in my first in the University when my parents found out I was acting on the side, they had family meetings about it. They didn’t want me to pursue it because they saw it differently and thought it would affect my studies. I had to stop acting for a while just to be at peace with them. Although I am happy today because they now understand that this is what I have passion for. I am now glad they are supporting me in every way they can.
Relocating to Nigeria
I have always been in and out of the country. I love traveling, so I have not left the country. Although I spend more time in Nigeria, but then I am always on the move.
Challenges
I encountered a lot of challenges. Some individuals in the industry have the desire to help you, but would want to get something in return that I cannot do.It is against my value. In addition, some people don’t just like you because they see you as a competition.
The industry doesn’t pay well
I do other businesses despite my love for acting, because it’s good to have multiple streams of income

I opted for it because it shows my real essence and I am proud of that.
Personality off-screen
I am fun person to be with. I love to see people happy. Most times, I go out of my way to make people happy, this is why I am an entertainer. I am that crazy happy girl off screen.

There is nothing I cannot do in the name of fashion. It’s all about the Benjamins

Challenges of being filmmaker
There are so many challenges I will just name a few .Most times, some actors and crew members are unprofessional on movie sets and that irks me.Then not forgetting the fact that funding can also be nerve wrecking.
