As a child growing up in a typical humble but responsible home setting, I was taught value of morals, quality of character and potency of peaceful coexistence to survival and longevity. As an adult, I am yet to forget those teachings, not the ones taught just by parents but the ones exhibited by neighbors, those inherent in the curriculum of the schools and character of the teachers. Indeed those worthy traits were severally and regularly exhibited by the entire society.
It therefore baffles me whenever I see adults in the characters that are directly opposite what I learnt those days. Characters that depict bankruptcy of morals, absence of responsibility and deficiency in proper home training, no matter their place, status and position. What is bad, is bad.
The social media was recently occupied with the news of Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye calling out the Governor for hugging the Ohinohi of Ebira land who is incidentally an Uncle to the Governor. The latest antic of the lousy Senator caused the reason for a review of his anti social, immoral, anti democratic tendencies that he carelessly exhibit. Almost immediately after he released the the insult, same social media is funnily littered with a photo of Senator Dino sitting in the most disreputable, disrespectful and unmannerly manner with the paramount ruler of his own LGA. The irony of the entire scenerio then played out. The former photo was one of the usual attempt of the juvenile Senator to deride the Governor but the latter instantaneously exposed the hypocrisy and deceitful personality of Sen Dino Melaye.
Senator Dino is a member of the red chamber, no doubt but he is nothing close to what can be called Distinguished, he is not in the class those that should represent a refined, exposed and intellectually mobile people of Kogi West, but unfortunately the process of leadership recruitment in our milieu allows any unguided and disgruntled element to occupy positions of great responsibility. His character and traits that are inimical to proper upbringing of the next generation leaders are fast becoming what is widely celebrated and imbibed. Because characters like Sen Dino who severally and dangerously abuse their different wives makes it to such positions , our youths sees such height of irresponsibility as a good way to the top, little wonder the incessant cases of marital abuse and divorce in our society today. Isn't it nauseating and worrisome that a Distinguished Senator cannot maintain a family? While he has reported cases of domestic violence, we have never heard that about GYB, the man he attempted to deride.
Several allegations that are unconfirmed yet, leaves big holes in his anti corruption crusade, alot of people even says Sen Dino have severally confessed jokingly, how he uses the anti corruption crusade as a decoy for some purposes not known to many, this is attributed in many quarters to his opulence lifestyle that is obviously above his income. Police cases against Sen Dino on several occasions shows he is not close to anything called transparent. A fairly elderly man once narrated his ordeals in the hands of Sen Dino when he as an estate agent facilitated the purchase of Sen Dino's first personal property in Abuja and the Senator refused to pay his agreed agency fee, poor old man made all efforts to get his money, but all efforts proved abortive. Can such a character be called anti corruption crusader ?
The ways and manners he apply illegal methods and means to hijack all the primary election he contested attests to his anti democratic tendencies and that is a great way to define corruption. During the 2015 APC Senatorial primary, it is still very fresh how he stole the ticket, the last PDP primary election for Kogi West is a fresh reminder of his undemocratic character. His unguided and violent approach to all issues is most despicable and most reprehensible. Sen Dino is always in the character of fighting, insulting and causing trouble, he is known for trouble, greed and selfish tendencies. He is the lord of lies and preacher of immorality, up till now all alleged assassination attempts he has shouted have not brought a single conviction against all he alleged which suggests that they were all mere political propaganda.
As he has shown interest to contest the gubernatorial election, Nigerians should get ready for blackmails and propaganda, he will stop at nothing to implicate, lie, coarse and instigate all form of crisis. Kogites must be careful to remember that when the going was good, Sen Dino told the whole world that GYB was God chosen, let us all ask him why the change. As event unfolds, we shall continue to expose the antics of a delinquent in power
