20 KOGI GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES REJECT INDIRECT PRIMARY AS Oshiomole AND APC NWC SUPPORT AN INDIRECT MODE.
Ahead of November 16 governorship election in Kogi state, about 20 governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly rejected the indirect mode of primary election.
The indirect mode was recently approved for the state by the national secretariat of the party.
The aspirants include Alhaji Yusuf Haruna, a former Aide de Camp of APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
They argued that the indirect primary would deny them a level playing ground.
Going further, they claimed that with the indirect primary, the party was setting booby traps for itself.
They also added that as loyal party members, they will not fold their arms and allow the party to suffer huge political loss arising from the narrow ambition of a “non-performing governor”.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared its support for Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi on indirect primaries for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
A statement signed by the party national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu, stated that a formal request from the state executive and stakeholders in preference for the indirect primary was considered and deliberated on.
