Kogi state university: the fallen giant. Governor Yahaya Bello and his uninspired attitude towards higher education.
Once upon a time when Kogi State University was second to none best state university in Nigeria. Late Professor Idachaba, blessed memories, under the administration of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris who saw to the growth of the institution till it made a name and was reckoned with but today the mighty KSU is fallen to her feet by the uninspired attitude of a government that careless about the welfare of the staffs and operations of the institution.
When we were schooling at the institution, we held our heads up in pride among our equals because the university was worth all of her accolades then, but now the university and her image which was once praised is collapsing.
The present government under Yahaya Bello lackadaisical attitude toward the institution is depriving the institution a lot. The institution is now in the hands of incompetent staffs who secured their degrees from backyards and low ranked universities where they got their degrees with ease.
The administration of Yahaya Bello appoint some of the university staffs who are ready to crawl and lick his shoes into his government Just like the case of Mr Ogbo Usman (political science HOD, a man not worthy to be called a Dr, treating students with disdain and running after the Governor for favour) while The others with their self pride are treated harshly going months without salaries.
The institution now produces half baked students who will never be able to compete with their equals when released into the labour market. The lecturers are not galvanized to impact students with knowledge as they are been deprived of their rights.
KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY ANYIGBA. CITADEL OF KNOWLEDGE. SECOND TO NONE.
What a loss.
