lamentation of a lost soul

POEM (COLLABO)
BY: Ndhlovu NkhumbulaniNI & Panji Sean Phiri

Standing in front of us in His white collar He ready the vows,
“Today you are pronounced husband and wife”, with smiles
I looked straight in your eyes while on the alter, I said I do,
It was sealed, I knew it was forever for always me and you.

We stayed in harmony, peace and love for so many years,
Suddenly all changed, you started getting joy from my tears.
Humiliating and beating me in front of my children everyday,
When I asked what I did, you had nothing reasonable to say.

Just to seek reconciliation I had to go down on my knees,
Slaps, punches, blows and insults is what I got for my fees.
When you vowed and promised me for better for worse,
Did you really mean to down grade me to somebody less?

With all the punches and blows I received, what did I do?
When you said I love you, did you mean I will punch you?
The love and respect I showed you, wasn’t it enough to see?
Where did you take the respect n’ embrace you had for me?

Now you’re pretending to love me when it's already too late,
When you have already pronounced death to be my fate.
And now you are mourning and regretting your own actions,
When all this was built and established from your intentions.

In the presence of my relatives you are acting like a saint,
When in reality the true definition of you is Lucifer sent.
You are telling them I was a kind and good woman to you,
When you turned me into a punching woman and a fool.

Defining you with only one word, I would ask for four more,
Making it five; heartless, brut, ruthless, monster, an animal.
Don’t show love now, cause we both know that is pretense,
Tell the Man in the mirror He’s happy so I can rest in peace.
.
THE END
