Passengers To Undergo Test Before Traveling

The SGF, who stated this at the daily briefing of the presidential taskforce on COVID-19, said: “Considering the importance of international air travel to the economy, the PTF and the Aviation sector are working hard to fast track reopening of the international airspace.

The secretary to the government of the federation/chairman of the PTF-COVID-19, Boss Mustpha has revealed that inbound passengers from foreign trips will be tested for COVID-19 on arrival at Nigeria airports.

Most importantly, the arrival protocols for passengers on in-bound flights are being firmed up for seamless testing and detection.
“Relevant MDAs will be holding further consultations.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika has said the new date for international flights resumption will soon be announced.
He also revealed that there will be a meeting of a committee handling the protocol on Tuesday where the protocol will be revealed and the date for international flights resumption made known.

The PTF had urged Nigerians to be patient and await the real date for the resumption of international flights as no date has been fixed yet.

The SGF had said: “the Aviation sector has been working assiduously to develop the protocols for the resumption of international air services.

“This PTF remains conscious of the significant contributions of air
travels to economic growth and shall continue to push for a safe
resumption.

“The next phase is for aviation regulators to engage with other stake
holders to facilitate an integrated and seamless resumption of
international flights. I plead with all Nigerians to await authentic
information from the aviation authorities and discountenance fake news
and speculation on dates.”
